Sensex up 160pts; Infosys slips 2%

The NSE Nifty is up 55 points at 5,014.

Tata Steel has soared 6.5% to Rs 762. Jaiprakash Associates has surged 5.5% to Rs 229.

Bharti Airtel has rallied over 4% to Rs 858. Hindalco, Grasim and Ranbaxy have gained 2.7% each at Rs 192, Rs 2,640 and Rs 493, respectively.

Reliance Communications has advanced 2.5% to Rs 544. Larsen & Toubro and HDFC Bank have moved up over 2% each to Rs 2,834 and Rs 1,427, respectively.

Infosys has shed 1.7% at Rs 1,638. Wipro and Satyam have slipped 1.3% each to Rs 453 and Rs 463, respectively.

Out of 2,677 stocks traded so far, 2,009 have advanced, 625 have declined and 43 are unchanged.
