The Sensex opened 20 points higher at 9,035, and soon touched a high of 9,112. The index is now up 65 points at 9,080.
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has surged 4% to Rs 296.
Grasim, DLF and Maruti have rallied over 2% each to Rs 1,372, Rs 162 and Rs 631, respectively.
HDFC and Jaiprakash Associates have moved up 2% each to Rs 1,392 and Rs 70, respectively.
BHEL and Tata Steel have gained nearly 2% each at Rs 1,421 and Rs 174, respectively.
Wipro, Sterlite, Ranbaxy, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI are up around 1.5% each.
Hindustan Unilever, however, is down almost 1% at Rs 252.
