The Sensex today opened at 16,808 on the back of weakness in global markets. The index slipped to a low of 16,706 and is now at 16,621, down 118 points.
The NSE Nifty is at 4,932, down 38 points.
Wipro has soared 3.5% to Rs 612 on the back of a 19% jump in consolidated jump in net profit. Tata Motors has advanced 3% to Rs 556. Grasim Industries and Sun Pharma are up over 1% each.
Metal stocks - Hindalco and Sterlite are the major losers so far on the BSE, down 3% each at Rs 132 and Rs 799, respectively.
Reliance Communications and Tata Steel have dropped 2.5% each to Rs 218 and Rs 528, respectively. Jaiprakash Associates, DLF and Tata Power are down 2% each.
The other losers include Reliance Infrastructure, ITC, Bharti Airtel and ICICI Bank.
