Silver up on global cues
Silver for delivery in July traded Rs 225.
Press Trust of India New Delhi Silver prices rose Rs 225 to Rs 43,988 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions buoyed by a firm global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in July traded Rs 225, or 0.51%, higher at Rs 43,988 per kg in business turnover of 1,148 lots.
Likewise, silver for delivery in the September contract traded higher by Rs 222, or 0.50%, to Rs 44,637 per kg in 50 lots.
Market analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators buoyed by a firm global trend as equities retreated and the dollar's rally halted, boosting demand for the metals as a store of value.
Meanwhile, silver rose 0.3% to $22.62 an ounce in Singapore.
