Turmeric prices rose by Rs 132 to Rs 7,776 per quintal in futures trading today after traders created fresh positions on pick-up in spot market demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, July contract for turmeric rose by Rs 132, or 1.73%, to Rs 7,776, with an open interest of 8,365 lots.
Similarly, August contract for the spice gained Rs 122, or 1.60%, to Rs 7,740 in 4,720 lots.
Traders said fresh buying by traders after pick-up in spot market demand mainly led to the rise in turmeric prices at futures trade.
However, weak export demand restricted the gains, they added.
