156 lakh tonne rice procured during ongoing Kharif season

Over 156 lakh tonne rice has been procured by government agencies during Kharif marketing season, 2013-14.

As per data made available by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, a total 156,99,858 tonne rice has been procured till date.

The highest procurement has been made in Punjab (119,16,499 tonnes), followed by Haryana (35,58,022 tonnes) and Tamil Nadu (75,152 tonnes).

Uttar Pradesh has procured 65,519 tonnes.
