In a despondent attempt to get into the Indian Army, 38 army aspirants were booked by the city police for submitting fake certificates during the recruitment drive conducted in Aurangabad in July 2015.
The candidates have been booked by the Cantonment Police under IPC Sections 420- Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, 468- forgery for purpose of cheating and 471- using as genuine a forged document or electronic record).
"The candidates from places like Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Solapur and Dhule submitted their documents to the authorities concerned. However, M. P. Singh, director, Army Recruitment Centre, Aurangabad, reportedly noticed that these candidates had passed their SSC and HSC from other places, but had submitted domicile certificates of Aurangabad," said Madhukar Sawant, Inspector Crime Branch, Aurangabad.
A similar inquiry was conducted on 400 employees of Jabalpur-based Ordinance Factory Board who had travelled with their families to the North-East to avail of LTC in 2008.
However, later, it was later found that the e-tickets submitted for claims were fake in several cases, though defence accounts officials could not establish whether all the employees had actually travelled or not.
