4,000 special trains will run during festive season: MoS Railway Sinha

Minister of State for Communication and Railway, Manoj Sinha on Tuesday informed that a total of 4,000 special trains will run during the upcoming festive season from the national capital and other major cities of India for the convenience of the people.

"This year, 4,000 special trains will run on the festive season of Dussehra, Diwali and Chhath as opposed to 3,800 trains last year," Sinha told the reporters here.

Sinha said that to provide new train, non-popular train would be cancelled and extra 9, 500 coaches will be added to the special festival trains to meet the need of the people.

Sinha said that if the rush of the passengers increases, the sale of the platform tickets will be stopped and use of foot over bridges will be minimized.

He further said that additional Railway Protection Force has been called from different parts of the country to ensure safety and security.

"Sufficient arrangements are being made to provide clean drinking water, ambulance, medicines and wheelchairs. Apart from this, the railways will ensure that the trains run on time, so that the passengers don't have to suffer," he said.

Sinha, further added that special ticket booking counters have been arranged for reservation of the tickets to avoid chaos.
