The students of Kanpur's Rama Dental College on Tuesday created a ruckus inside the college premises after an argument with the management over cheating in exam.

According to the college staff, the dispute emerged when the staff refused to allow the students to carry electronic gadgets in the nursing examination premises and refused to fulfill their demand of duplication in the exam.

Eventually, the dispute between the teachers and students grew fierce and the students started vandalising the college property and also pelted stones on the police which had reached the spot.

As per the college management, the students also attacked the staff and damaged their personal property.

But listening to the other side, the students have claimed that college management demanded Rs. 10,000 from students before the examination in lieu of duplication, but later retracted.

Talking to ANI, a college staff member said, "The students here wanted us to help them cheat during the examination, but we refused. The Uttar Pradesh medical faculty has strictly ordered to keep a check on such activities and has also ordered to video record the three-hour duration examination."

She also refuted the students' claims and said that the video footage students have shown about asking money for allowing cheating in the examination was of fee deposition.

Sonia Singh, DIG Kanpur, told ANI, "According to the college students, they were not allowed to appear for their exam today and that's why they created a ruckus. There is no one from the college management, who could clarify on this. We are making a detailed report of the matter and then will inform the government about this."

At present, the police have vacated the entire college and are investigating into the matter.
