Eight people are feared dead after a multi storey building collapsed in the Canacona area of South Goa.
According to television channel reports, eight people are dead and 40 people are missing. The building was under construction, and around 50 workers were reportedly working at the time of the incident.
"The incident took place at around 3 p.m. and we are still ascertaining the exact number of people who were caught in the collapse," said Shekhar Prabhudesai, Superintendent of Police.
Rescue work is going on, and, fire brigades and ambulances have been sent to the spot. Further details are awaited.
