Downplaying the domestic violence allegations against Somnath Bharti, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday said the former minister has assured that the matter will be sorted out with his wife's family.
"On one hand, there is a complaint by Somnath Bharti's wife and on the other hand, there is a statement made by his mother. Bharti ji has assured us that the matter will be sorted between his family and his wife's family," AAP leader Sanjay Singh said during a press conference
"Both parties will sit and discuss the matter. Bharti has said that he loves his wife and kids, he has also said that he wants to keep his mother with him," he added.
Bharti's wife, Lipika Mitra, has alleged that she has been facing violence at Bharti's hands since 2010 and added that she wants a separation in order to live with her children 'with dignity'.
However, Bharti has refuted the allegations, accusing her of demanding the eviction of his mother from their house.
