AAP had said things would be 'adjusted' after polls: Congress

Congress leader Shoaib Iqbal on Wednesday said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had asked for his party's support during the previous Delhi Assembly elections, saying that things would be 'adjusted' after the polls.

"They wanted to form a government with the support of Congress. Back then Manish Sisodia had initiated the talks. Nothing had been finalised back then but they had said that once everything is sorted things can be 'adjusted'. There was a lot of pressure on me to get the support of Congress," said Iqbal.

"They had also met the Lieutenant Government over the issue. He had only one condition that they would not be fighting the elections from four states including Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Maharashtra," he added.

Earlier in the day, AAP's senior member from Maharashtra Anjali Damania quit over allegations of horse-trading against Kejriwal.

With her tweet, she linked the video of a news report by a TV channel featuring the recording of a purported telephone conversation between former AAP legislator Rajesh Garg and a man who he alleges is Kejriwal.

Damania's disclosure comes at a time when the AAP has been plunged into an internal crisis, with Kejriwal's supporters seeking the ouster of founder members Yogendra Yadav and Prasahant Bhushan. The AAP chief's supporters have accused the duo of attempting to unseat Kejriwal and of having tried to ensure that the party lost the Delhi Assembly polls.
