The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday criticised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his spat with Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung over the appointment of Shakuntala Gamlin as chief secretary, accusing the Aam Aadmi Party of indulging in politics rather than focusing on development of the city.

"The AAP party is doing politics instead of development. Why is there a need to clash with the Lieutenant Governor? Can't they read the Constitution? Kejriwal himself has been a bureaucrat, he should understand these things," BJP leader Vijay Goel told ANI.

Earlier on Friday, Jung appointed Gamlin as Delhi Chief Secretary,

despite strong opposition to her nomination by Delhi Chief Minister

Arvind Kejriwal.
