In a bid to revive the national team's languishing performance, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has appointed former India captain Bhaichung Bhutia as an advisor on Sunday.
"Have appointed Bhaichung Bhutia as Advisor to #AIFF and myself for the overall issues of the game and the Federation," AIFF president Praful Patel confirmed the news on Twitter.

"Welcome on board #Bhaichung. First call improving the #Indian National team and readying the boys for World Cup U17. #AIFF," he added.
The Indian men's football team have been continuing to paint a grim picture as they had dropped a whopping 12 places to languish at the 167th position in the FIFA rankings released earlier this month.
India also slumped to their fifth successive defeat, losing 0-3 to Oman in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers last week.
