Out-of-favour Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has brushed aside rumours surrounding his retirement, insisting that he is still a 'better limited-overs bowler'.
The 37-year-old said that he was looking forward to play in the next week's national T20 main round in order to regain his spot for the upcoming Zimbabwe series starting from September 27.
"I never wanted to retire in obscurity as I have done enough for Pakistan to win matches singlehandedly. I want to retire with respect and honour. I will definitely sit with the selectors and discuss my future plan with them," Ajmal was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
The doosra specialist, who missed the World Cup due to an illegal bowling action, further said that he was still a better limited-overs bowler as he was taking wickets in the shorter format.
"I think there is some room for me in limited-overs cricket and I will prove that in the T20 cup in Pakistan," added Ajmal, who recently completed an unimpressive county stint with Worcestershire.
Ajmal, who has claimed 178 Test and 184 ODI wickets, struggled to find a place in the national squad after being cleared to bowl again by the ICC.
