'All secular forces must join hands to resist sinister design executed by RSS':CPI

Taking potshots at the government over the resignation of IIMC professor Amit Sengupta, Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja on Saturday said all secular and patriot forces must join hands to resist this kind of sinister design promoted and executed by the RSS and Sangh Parivar outfits.

The CPI leader emphasized that this episode must be a wake-up call to all the faculty members because in JNU all the faculty members stand united and they are being targetted and attacked.

"So, it is a very serious situation and now it is a challenge before all democrats who love this country, who love the people of this country, who want this country to progress," Raja told ANI.

"It is a challenge before all democrats, all secular forces, all patriot forces to come together and resist this kind of sinister design promoted and executed by RSS and Sangh Parivar outfits," he added.

Sengupta, an Associate Professor of English Journalism department at the IIMC, quit after an order was issued transferring him to the premier media school's campus in Odisha's Dhenkanal district.

Stating that the order to move him was issued without any discussion with me or any faculty member, he dubbed the decision to be politically motivated.

Sengupta said that he was aware that he had been targeted because he supported the solidarity protest for Rohith Vemula in the IIMC campus.

He added in his resignation letter to IIMC's OSD Anurag Misra that he had also been targeted because he supported the JNU and FTII students.
