South Africa captain Hashim Amla has kept his team's hopes alive in the first innings of their second Test against Sri Lanka as he battles on with just four wickets remaining.
South Africa currently trails Sri Lanka by 220 runs. At the time of the filing of this report Amla had scored his century and was batting on his individual score of 107. Keeping Amla company at the crease was Vernon Philander on seven.
South Africa was 201 at the end of 97 overs at a loss of six wickets. The visitors have lost three wickets on the third day of the second Test after losing three earlier on the second day.
Sri Lanka's Dilruwan Perera bagged A B de Villiers wicket as the batsman got leg before wicket for his individual score of 37 runs. Perera then went on to claim his third wicket as he bowled Quinton de Kock for a duck.
Sri Lanka's Niroshan Dickwella struck out J P Duminy for his individual score of three on Rangana Herath's bowl.
Amla has amassed 107 runs and continues to bat with Philander at the crease as they continue their chase to the hosts 421 in the first innings.
