An extemely annoyed Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Tuesday that he would not attend any event in the future in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be a part, as he felt that Tuesday's government-sponsored foundation stone-laying event of the 166-kilometer-long Kaithal-Rajasthan border highway had been converted into a political rally by the latter for the benefit of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Objecting strongly to the crowds shouting and booing at him as soon as he rose to address them, Hooda told media persons after the event that "I will not attend any such event in future as no respect was given to us. This was a government function and I was invited for it. But the BJP turned it into their own event," he said.

The Rs 1,393-crore road project starts from Kaithal and ends at Haryana/Rajasthan Border, and will be completed in 30 months. It passes through Kalayat, Narwana, Barwala, Hisar and Siwani towns.

Earlier, Modi said that his government will take tough measures to eliminate corruption, a menace "more dangerous than cancer".

He said that there was aneed to think ahead and meet the aspirations of the new generation of Indians.
