India's first all-electric car expedition began from Jammu and Kashmir on Monday in order to make people aware with the advantages of electric mobility.
The expedition was flagged off by former Sri Lankan cricketer Aravinda de Silva in Srinagar.
He said the rally is a good opportunity to promote green mobility at a time when issues like climate change and global warming have moved to centre stage of public concern across the world.
"I think it's to clear up lot of mindset of people with the electric cars. What they feel is that there is a problem with distance as well as the rugged terrain you are faced with and to overcome all that I think it's an expedition which we are trying to do to make sure that it can withstand all that," said de Silva.

Three fully equipped Mahindra Revas would carry out the expedition to cover a distance of over 5,000 kilometres, from Srinagar to Kanyakumari.
The cars would cover 52 locations in 30 days with places like Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru being some of the halts.
The expedition was organised by Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Private Limited and its Chief Executive Officer, Arvind Mathew, was also present on the occasion.
