United States President Donald Trump has asked senators to question former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates as to how classified information about contacts between Trump's team and Russian officials got leaked to the press after her meeting with White House lawyers on General Mike Flynn.
"Ask Sally Yates, under oath, if she knows how classified information got into the newspapers soon after she explained it to W.H. Council," Trump tweeted.
Yates will testify in front of a Senate Judiciary Committee panel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election on Monday.
Trump had fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates in January for refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States.
"(Yates) has betrayed the Department of Justice," the White House statement said.
The dramatic move came soon after Yates told the Justice Department lawyers not to make legal arguments defending Trump's executive order on immigration and refugees.
