Pakistan Senate's Standing Committee on Interior on Monday demanded that the government raise the alleged unprovoked firing incident by Afghan security forces at Chaman border at the United Nations, reports Samaa TV.
Islamabad and Kabul are caught in a fresh verbal salvo as Pakistan's Inspector General Frontier Corps (FC) Major General Nadeem Ahmed claimed today that Afghan forces targeted the civilian population, while Pakistan targeted their check-posts, leaving 50 Afghan troops dead and 100 others wounded.
Afghan officials, however, said Pakistani military forces were conducting a census inside the Loqman village in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar and that the clashes started after Afghan border forces sought to prevent Pakistani forces from pursuing activities on Afghan soil.
Afghanistan's Ambassador to Pakistan Omar Zakhilwal also dismissed claims that Pakistani security forces killed 50 Afghan soldiers, saying that only two Afghan soldiers were slain and seven others injured.
