A pine tree which was planted as a tribute to the late Beatles member, George Harrison, in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, has perished due to beetle infestation.
Tom LaBonge, LA City Council officer said that the tree, which was planted by fans as a memorial back in 2004, and had grown more than 10 feet tall, would be replaced by another tree later this year, the Mirror reported.
The tree had small plaque at its base which mentioned the guitarist to be a "great humanitarian" who was loved as "an artist, a musician and a gardener."
Harrison had died due to lung cancer at the age of 58 in 2001, and was cremated at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, post which his ashes were scattered in the Ganges and Yamuna Rivers near Varanasi, India, as per Hindu tradition.
