Lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative of International Yoga Day, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday asked the opposition to keep politics aside at least on this day, adding that they should rather practice yoga and aim to achieve well-being.

"I think politics should be kept aside. We all should be concentrating on our health. As rightly said by the Prime Minister it is a without premium health insurance. I think, those who are trying to politicize the issue, those who are refusing yoga, should rather practice yoga and should get well-being for themselves," BJP leader Sambit Patra told ANI.

He further said, that because of yoga day, there is a sense of pride, enthusiasm and well-being across the globe.

The second International Yoga Day is being celebrated across the national capital in a big way.

The mega mass yoga demonstration organised at Connaught Place witnessed huge participation of people from all walks of life. They performed different postures of Yoga during 45 minutes of Yoga demonstration protocol.

A group of Divyangs performed yogasanas on wheel chairs as well.

On the occasion of the International Yoga Day today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, , asserted that the ancient Indian art was the most selfless of its kind, as it did not discriminate, did not ask for much, but simply functioned for the betterment of mankind and brought every society together.

"The United Nations observes several occasions but no other movement has become a global movement like Yoga Day. No other event is able to match the popularity of Yoga Day. This proves the power of the legacy by our ancestors," he said.

Besides, yoga events were also organised at six other locations of the city including Nehru Park, Lodhi Garden, Talkatora Garden and Japani Park in Rohini.

Resident Welfare Associations are also holding yoga sessions in their localities.

This year, more than 135 countries will participate in the International Day of Yoga celebrations across the world, according to an official video.

On the first International Yoga Day last year, Prime Minister Modi led thousands of people through various yogic exercises at Rajpath in New Delhi.

With it, India created two records: largest yoga class with 35,985 people and most nationalities (84) participating in a single yoga event.
