Elected legislatives of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra on Friday and submitted a letter with regards to their party extending its support to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the state assembly.

BJP MLA Kavinder Gupta said that the two parties are forming an alliance to give a stable government to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

"The talks were on three issues: the first is that there would be no compromise on national unity; the second was development; and the third was that there would be equal treatment given to all the three regions. Today Mufti ji met the Prime Minister, all the talks in this regard are almost over now. This took two months time because wanted a stable government for the people of Jammu and Kashmir," Gupta told the media.

Earlier in the day, PDP patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter's official 7, Race Course Road (RCR) residence here.

After the meeting, Mufti told the media that Prime Minister Modi has accepted the invitation to attend his swearing-in ceremony on March 1.

The assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir threw up a hung verdict with the PDP emerging as the single-largest party winning 28 seats.

The BJP won 25 seats, while the National Conference and Congress won 15 and 12 seats respectively.
