Workers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday protested in Uttar Pradesh against distribution of party tickets for upcoming general elections to undeserving candidates.

BJP supporters and workers in Allahabad took to streets and shouted slogans against Nandgopal Gupta, alias Nandi, who has been given a ticket to fight general elections, starting next month.

"The workers are protesting against distribution of party tickets to outsiders. An opportunist person, who was expelled from his party (Bahujan Samaj Party), is still making statements against BJP even when he has not fully attained the membership of the party. My request to the central leadership is not to grant party ticket to such an opportunistic person," said BJP member Narsimha.

Reportedly, BJP supporters were angry after the news surfaced that Gupta will be inducted in the party.

Meanwhile, a similar protest was held in Ayodhya, where BJP youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), shouted slogans against Lallu Singh, who got ticket to fight from Faizabad parliamentary constituency.

"BJP has selected candidate from here, who doesn't have any power. The workers of BJP, members of the society and all the Hindus in Ayodhya want that the party ticket should be given to a committed and hardworking candidate, a person who is capable of bringing success to the party," said a protester Azad Vikram Singh.
