A hardcore Maoist in Jharkhand disillusioned by his wayward life, returned from prison as a reformed and honest man, and took up farming to support his family.

Kuldip Singh, one of the founding members of a Maoist group, worked to expand the illegitimate activities by teaching and manipulating men, women and children of the nearby districts.

But after eight years as a Maoist, Singh became disenchanted with Maoism and finally came back to his family after being released from jail.

"After going to jail I had a change of heart because there was so much trouble being a Maoist. So I came back and am living in my house after being released from jail,"said Singh on Wednesday.

Singh's family is more than relieved to have their bread earner back as a family man.

His children are studying to make a career and are happy with their father turning over a new leaf.

"Earlier we had to face a lot of problems. Our mother worked hard on the field to earn a living for us after our father went to jail. After he has come back from jail, we are happy and content. One of my sisters, a brother and I study in Ranchi. I am doing B.Tech and my sister is also studying in a school in Ranchi,"said Singh's son, Bhuneshwar Singh.
