Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Friday assured all possible help to protesting nurses, who were evacuated from Yemen.
Chandy directed the state government to provide rehabilitation package to the nurses, who have lost their jobs and were unemployed.
The chief minister assured the nurses that his government would help them return to Yemen, once the situation normalises there.
Earlier in the day, Yemen returnees had gathered outside the Kerala Secretariat, demanding the state's support in rehabilitation.
The nurses also sought financial help from the government as they had taken loans to travel to Yemen for their jobs.
"The Chief Minister spoke in a very positive manner to the nurses. In terms of rehabilitation package, he has given some instructions. With war situation in Yemen, the CM has assured help to those who want to return there. Those who had taken education loans, he has asked us to provide bank-wise lists. And those who want new passports and who have lost their educational certificates and experience certificates, he has assured to take care of that," said S. Mini, chief of the All India Nurses Association.
India pulled out nearly 4,000 citizens, including foreign nationals, from the war torn country.
