Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, on Friday arrived in Islamabad for a three-day visit to Pakistan. The State Councilor was accompanied by a high-level delegation including three Ministers.
During his visit, the State Councilor will hold delegation level talks with the Foreign Minister. He will also call on the President, the Prime Minister, Speaker National Assembly, and meet the Chief of Army Staff.
"Besides holding talks and a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Yi will also meet senior Pakistani leaders," confirmed China's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying at her regular press briefing in Beijing, reported The Express Tribune.
She added that both sides will exchange views on bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of mutual interest.
This will be the first official visit by a Chinese dignitary since the new Government was formed in Pakistan.
The visit comes two days after United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited the country to hold talks on various issues with the Pakistani leadership. He also met Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to discuss bilateral ties between the two nations.
