Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that the coming of defence corridor in the state is a huge deal.

"UP is the biggest market at the moment. The coming of defence corridor in the state in itself is a huge deal," said Yogi at the UP Investors Summit here.

He also said that because of the good connectivity in Uttar Pradesh, the scope for aerospace increases.

Speaking on the good scope for the defence corridor, Yogi said, "Bundelkhand has a good scope for the defense corridor. And any investor that comes here will be provided with adequate amount of necessities".

On February 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a defence industrial corridor in the Bundelkhand region to bring development in one of the most backward regions of Uttar Pradesh.

"One of the two defence industrial corridors mentioned in the budget, one is proposed in the Bundelkhand region of the state which will bring an investment of Rs 20,000 crore and generate employment avenues for 2.5 lakh people," the Prime Minister said at the Investors Summit-2018 here.

The Yogi Adityanath-led government on Wednesday claimed that they have signed 25 Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs. 55,000 crores with various companies at the Uttar Pradesh Investors Summit-2018 in Lucknow.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the two-day 'UP Investors Summit'-the first such event by the Yogi Adityanath government.

The summit is aimed at showcasing investment opportunities and potential across various sectors in Uttar Pradesh.

The mega event is being organised to bring together heads of states and governments, ministers, leaders from the corporate world, senior policy makers, heads of international institutions and academicians from around the world to further the cause of economic development in the state and promote cooperation to pave way for better investments, according to an official statement.

President Ram Nath Kovind will attend the valedictory function on the second day.
