Congress has fielded 'Adarsh' leaders like Bansal and Chavan in LS polls: Modi

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Saturday said the present Congress-led UPA Government has no will to fight against corruption, and gave examples of former Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan being selected as the candidates for Chandigarh and Nanded respectively.

He said that the present government has become a burden for the country, and added this has never happened in the country before.

"If the country has to progress then we have to focus on good governance, which is the solution to every problem. The Congress party is not interested in finding solutions to country's problems," he said.

He also took a dig at Congress candidate from Chandigarh Pawan Kumar Bansal and asked why the government removed him from the Railways Minister post.

"And now they have brought him (Bansal) back. They have given him a ticket from this constituency," he added.

In an apparent dig at former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Modi said that the Congress has fielded all 'Adarsh' leaders.

"The Congress does not have a will power to fight against corruption. And this hurting the nation. Corruption is a protocol for the Congress. It is a lifeline for them," he said.

"At a function, the Prime Minister had said that soon the worst days for the country will come to an end and glorious are ahead of us. The very next day, I addressed the same gathering and had said that in reality good days are ahead of us. I wish to reiterate it again...Good days will be coming soon," he added.

He said 'Congress free India' will be the foundation for 'Corruption free India'.

"After May 16, the season of fall will come to end and a spring of development will soon start," he added.
