Senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) leader Sitaram Yechury on Wednesday, alleged that Trinamool Congress party thugs had conducted widespread poll malpractices in atleast three out of the six Lok Sabha constituencies which went to polls today and sought the Election Commission to conduct a repoll in those constituencies.
"All these six seats which went to polls today had sitting left front MPs. We had forecasted that there would be large scale rigging and this is what had taken place. Even after that till 4 pm we have got information that in almost 300 polling booths saw large scale malpractices. Not only that the booths were captured and the cameras inside the booths were covered," Yechury alleged after meeting the Election Commission.
"Out of six, atleast three constituencies saw huge amount of malpractice in Jhargram, Medinipur and Bishnupur. We have sought this to be probed and a repoll be conducted. All these were done by the TMC and also we have requested that if no action is taken and such things are let to pass then on May 12th when there will be 17 seats that will go to polls will witness more such malpractices," Yechury remarked.
