Cuba has reportedly denounced a state-run company for naming its new fragrances after the names of late Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez and legendary Argentine revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara saying that the names of these figures are sacred and will remain to be so forever, a report said.

Cuba's Council of Ministers said in a statement on Saturday that initiatives of this nature will neither be approved by the people nor the revolutionary government of Cuba, reported News 24. The body, chaired by President Raul Castro, added that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against the company and said that the 'Che' and Chavez families have not approved such use of their names.

The company, Grupo Empresarial Labiofam, on the other hand, said in its defence that the perfumes are still under development and were named "Ernesto" and "Hugo" in order to honor the figures.

Late leftist leader Chavez led Venezuela for 14 years. He died of cancer on 5 March, 2013 at the age of 58.

Guevara, a leader of the Cuban revolution, left the island in the 1960s to foment revolutions in Africa and Latin America before his death in Bolivia in 1967.
