Al-Nusrat Front, al-Qaeda's Syrian franchise has said that the foreign airstrikes constituted 'a war against Islam' and threatened to attack the nations that were participating in launching these strikes.

The front's spokesman Firas al-Suri said in a video posted online that these nations had committed a 'horrible act' and that they would come under jihadist targets throughout the world.

The airstrikes were extended to Syria and al Qaeda and Islamic State targets with airstrikes led by the United States, reported News24.

Suri threatened the Arab countries participating in U.S. led airstrikes that they would be faced with harsh consequences.

Suri also said that this was a long war and that it would not end until months or years.
