New Delhi [India], Nov 9 (ANI): Central Bureau of Investigation Director Alok Verma on Friday appeared before the Chief Vigilance Commission (CVC) KV Chaudary to defend charges of corruption leveled against him by CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana.
Verma was examined in the presence of CVC KV Chaudary and retired judge AK Pattnaik, who is supervising the case based on the Supreme Court's order.
Asthana had leveled allegations against Verma that he had tried to stop raids at the eleventh hour on the residence and office premises of Bihar's former chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in April this year. Asthana also alleged in his complaint to the CVC that Verma did not give him permission to travel to Patna. Verma in his reply has denied all allegations of corruption leveled against him.
Earlier, Hyderabad businessman Satish Sana was also examined by the CVC in connection with meat trader Moin Qureshi and Asthana case. Sources said Satish Sana has been examined by the CVC thrice in this case. Sana is the complainant in the CBI FIR against Asthana.
The Supreme Court had on October 26 asked the CVC to examine corruption charges leveled against Verma by Asthana and submit its report in two weeks.
