The Mumbai Police on Tuesday booked underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's brother Iqbal Kaskar and two of his associates on charges of extortion.
According to reports, a complaint by city-based real estate agent Salim Shaikh led to an FIR being registered at the Byculla Police Station on Monday night, following which the case was transferred to the JJ Marg Police Station, from where Kaskar was arrested.
Shaikh alleges that Kaskar and his associates demanded Rs three lakhs from him, following which he was thrashed.
The three have reportedly been booked under IPC Section 385 (Putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion), Section 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and Section 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
Kaskar had been deported to India from Dubai in 2003.
