The results of the December 4 state assembly elections in Delhi have been notified by the Election Commission, thus paving the way for Lt.Governor Najeeb Jung to explore all options for government formation.
Jung is likely to first call the BJP and its ally the Akali Dal to form the government.
If the BJP declines such an offer, then Jung may ask the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) if it is willing to explore the possibility of government formation.
In case AAP also refuses to take the offer, then the Lt Governor may be left with little option but to recommend central rule.
The BJP has got 32 seats, while the AAP has got 28 seats and the Congress eight. The JD-U and Independents have won a seat each.
Neither the BJP or the AAP have shown an interest in forming the government.
AAP's Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday that with almost similar ideologies, the BJP and the Congress should form a coalition government in the state.
BJP chief ministerial aspirant Harshvardhan said that his party would not give in to horse trading and is ready to sit in the opposition.
