The best way to improve bilateral relations between India and Pakistan is by developing economic ties that mutually benefit both the countries, outgoing Indian High Commissioner Sharat Sabharwal said.
At Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Sabharwal gave credit to the private sectors in the two countries for making right moves at the right time.
He said it was not only the visa regime that had been liberalized, but considerable increase in the bilateral trade had also been seen in the recent years, the Daily Times reports.
According to the report, Sabharwal said both Pakistan and India needed to take more steps to remove Non-Tariff Barriers (NTB) that was a major hurdle to developing bilateral trade relations.
He said it was heartening to note the new government in Pakistan was focusing on economic well being of its people.
He said that joint ventures, out-sourcing and sharing of technology would further pave the way for trade expansion, the report added.
