Academics have slammed the TV show 'Doctor Who', branding it "thunderingly racist."

They have claimed that the 'Time Lord' is dismissive towards his black companions and shows dislike for 'primitive' people, the Daily Star reported.

A new book 'Doctor Who And Race' has raised questions on the Doctor, played by Matt Smith, 30, fighting with aliens like the Daleks and Cybermen than fight slavery.

The book also criticised the failure to cast a black Time Lord and the use of white actors for playing the Asian characters in the 1970s.
