Edgar Ramirez has hopped aboard to star with Matthew McConaughey in Black Bear Pictures' upcoming mining drama titled 'Gold.'
The 37-year-old 'Zero Dark Thirty' actor will play the role of geologist Michael Acosta while the Oscar winner plays prospector Walsh, in the film, which will be helmed by Stephen Gaghan from a script by Patrick Massett and John Zinman, Deadline.com reported.
Based on the true story about the 1993 Bre-X Mineral Corporation mining scandal, the movie will show the unlikely pair traveling to the Indonesian jungle in search of the highly valued soft metal of the title.
The project will begin filming in June in New York, New Mexico and Thailand.
Producers of the film include McConaughey, Teddy Schwarzman, Michael Nozik through his Hwy61 banner, and Massett and Zinman. Paul Haggis, also of Hwy61 banner will executive produce along with Richard Middleton.
