Facebook recently announced FB Newswire, a new service that will reportedly play the role of a news aggregator as well as a news source for journalist around the globe.
The service will ensure that journalists receive verified and accurate news stories that they can rely on.
According to CNET, in order to bring that verification into the mix, Facebook has partnered with Storyful, a company that aggregates content from social networks and verifies their accuracy byway of its editorial team.
The content for FN Newswire will be collected from status updates shared publicly by the social network's users and companies, and include everything from photos to videos to text.
The move is seen as the social network's attempt to establish a rapport with journalists and be in line with other competing social sites such as Twitter.
