Fire in Machilipatnam Exp, doused

Fire broke out in the engine of Machilipatnam express on Friday night but was immediately doused.

The incident happened when the train reached Indupalli Railway Station at 2230 hrs.

The driver of the train alerted the authorities immediately.

Passengers traveling in the first two compartments behind the engine were asked to step down.

Railway officials informed fire fighting department who immediately swung into action.

There were no casualties in the accident.

The reason for the fire is presumed to be due to a short circuit.

Further investigation is on.
