The former England cricket captain Freddie Flintoff recently finished an arduous 1,200 km bike ride through the heart of the Amazon.

A self-confessed environmental sceptic, the cricketer is not much of a cycling lover.

According to the Independent, the cricketer pedalled along the Trans-Amazonian Highway, built by the Brazilian military dictatorship in the early 1970s.

Flintoff's grueling bike-ride was reportedly motivated by his young children, who happened to learn about the plight of the rainforest in school.
