West Indies star batsman Chris Gayle could make a return in the next season of the Big Bash League cricket tournament despite his infamous interview with a female reporter stirred a controversy earlier this year.
Gayle was seen asking the reporter out on a date during a broadcast interview before adding the 'Don't blush baby' remark.
The 36-year-old explosive southpaw was fined USD 7,500 and was widely slammed for his inappropriate comments.
The Jamaican had subsequently offered a qualified apology to the reporter but claimed that it was 'a simple joke' that had been blown out of proportion.
Melbourne Renegades coach David Saker admitted that Gayle's action was wrong but refused to rule out his return to the team, Sport24 reported.
According to him, there exists a chance for his return and that his selection would depend on the team's need.
Gayle, who is currently playing for Royal Bangalore Challengers in the Indian Premier League, was the leading scorer for Renegades with 260 runs in eight games last season.
