Former Australian player Stuart Law has reportedly emerged as the frontrunner to fill the vacant position of Pakistan head coach left by Waqar Younis following the team's disastrous group-stage exit from the World T20.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which held the Board of Governors (BoG) meeting at the NCA to discuss the candidate, had confirmed that they shortlisted a couple of names for the head coach's post, but they refused to announce the names keeping in mind the candidates' final consent.

Meanwhile, PCB chairman Shaharyar said that the new head coach would also coach the Pakistan 'A' team.

According to the Dawn, Law is among the favourites to succeed Waqar as the head coach while Andrew Moles, who is currently working with the Afghanistan national team, was kept as the backup.

The 47-year-old, who played one Test and 54 ODIs for Australia, is expected to be the PCB's favourite due to his reputation for being a disciplined cricketer and hard-working person.

Law has recently also signed a contract with Cricket Australia as the team's batting coach for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, starting from July.
