The co-pilot, who is believed to have deliberately slammed the Germanwings flight 9525 into the French Alps, killing all 150 aboard, grew up in the small town of Montabaur in western Germany and led a quiet life.
According to News24, 28-year-old Andreas Lubitz later lived in a flat in Dusseldorf and his neighbours in both locations barely knew him.
A 23-year-old neighbor, who used to see Lubitz jogging regularly, refused to believe investigators' claims that the co-pilot deliberately crashed the Germanwings flight.
He admitted that he did not know Andreas particularly well, but said that he could not imagine "that anyone is that egoistical."
A couple, who lived next door to the family for 22 years, were amazed at the revelation. The man said that he was astounded and "lost for words." His wife said that they were shocked and could scarcely believe it.
