GoPro, a manufacturer of eponymous action cameras, mobile apps and video-editing software is reportedly facilitating a major layoff during the coming week, which is expected to cost around 200-300 employees their jobs.

The layoff is largely concentrated around the aerial division, the segment of the company responsible for its Karma drone, company sources told TechCrunch.

The American tech company in a letter to impacted employees explained that the cuts were part of a larger restructuring to better align our resources with business requirements.

Sources revealed that although the company relieved impacted employees of duties, they will be kept on the payroll until February 16, in lieu of its upcoming earnings report.

GoPro's Karma drone has faced a series of obstacles in the recent past, both with regards to its technical limitations and a mass recall after reports stated drones were dropping from the sky late last year.

The present layoff follows a similar situation in 2016, when GoPro let 100 people go from its entertainment division, followed by an additional job cut of 270 employees in March 2017.
