Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said Thursday that immediate, necessary and effective steps are being taken by the central government to bring the violence on the Assam-Nagaland border to a close.

Naqvi told ANI, "The government is keeping a complete track of the violence in Assam. It is also taking the effective and necessary steps".

On August 12, armed Naga miscreants raided villages along the border in Assam's Golaghat district and started firing indiscriminately, killing three persons and injuring several others.

They also burnt down several houses.

Around 5,000 people who were forced to leave the villages are taking shelter in six relief camps at Uriamghat.
