Stating that he was in touch with Punjab Chief Minister Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal regarding the Gurdaspur terror attack, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said he was confident that the anti-terror operation will be successful.

"I have spoken to the NSA and the Home Secretary. The Operation is still on; I will not make any comments. We will be successful in operation," said Rajnath.

"I am in touch with Punjab CM, NSA, DG BSF. The forces on the border are on alert. I'm fully confident that our operation will be successful," he added.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju had earlier said that no hostage situation in the Gurdaspur attack has been reported so far.

"The attack is serious. I can't give any details as the operation is still going on. No hostage situation has been reported so far," he said.

One militant has been killed while a Punjab Special Service Group (SSG) jawan has sustained injuries in the ongoing operations.

The death toll in the attack has risen to eight, including six civilians and two home guards. Four civilians have also sustained injuries.
