Harold Hamm's epic divorce ends post ex-wife depositing $974m cheque

The multibillionaire energy tycoon Harold Hamm's ex-wife Sun Ann Arnall has deposited the handwritten 974.8 million dollars divorce settlement cheque that she rejected earlier.

Hamm's attorney Craig Box said that with Arnall's apparent decision to deposit the cheque, they believe this ends her case, People Magazine reported.

Arnall's attorneys had previously said that she was disappointed with that decision, which she felt was a "not equitable" divide of assets accrued during the couple's 25-year marriage, and so had planned to appeal a court ruling that awarded her nearly 1 billion dollars in a divorce settlement.

Harold's attorneys said that the cheque, which represented the remaining balance of what he owes under the terms of the November order - he already had paid nearly 23 million dollars to his ex-wife during the divorce proceedings, was offered to stop the accrual of interest on the judgment while her appeal took shape.

Arnall filed for divorce in 2012 citing "mutual irreconcilable differences.
