Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Sunday sought a decisive mandate for his party in the upcoming Haryana Assembly polls and drew the attention of people to the recognition that Prime Minister Narendra Modi gets in his foreign trips.
Addressing a rally here ahead of the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, Shah said, "When earlier PMs used to go on foreign trips, no one used to know about it. Now, when Prime Minister Modi goes on a foreign trip, the whole world pays attention to it."
"Have you ever seen an India Prime Minister addressing such a huge gathering in Madison Square? Have you ever seen an Indian Prime Minister addressing the UNGA in Hindi?" he asked.
Taunting the Congress-led former UPA regime, Shah said, "You had left the growth rate at 4.2 percent and we have taken it to 5.7 percent in just three months."
Promising a better future, Shah urged the people to vote for the BJP in the upcoming assembly polls.
Taking a jibe at former Haryana chief minister and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief Om Prakash Chautala, Shah asked, "Would you want your CM to take his oath from inside a jail?"
The election for 90-member Haryana Assembly is scheduled to be held on October 15 while the votes will be counted on October 19.
